About Complete Southern
Complete Southern started with a simple observation: most Southern lifestyle coverage either leans into stereotype or ignores the region's real diversity altogether. We wanted something in between, a site that takes the food, the small towns, and the traditions seriously without pretending the South is one thing.
We cover Southern food and recipes, regional restaurants, travel across the region, small towns worth a detour, and weekend getaways close enough to reach after work on a Friday. Our coverage spans South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia, with an eye toward the towns and dishes that do not always make the big lists.
Our editorial voice is warm and conversational, but we hold ourselves to a few rules. We do not invent restaurant visits or travel experiences that did not happen. We credit family recipes instead of presenting them as our own. We try to reflect the full range of communities, including Black, Indigenous, and immigrant contributions, that have shaped Southern culture. And when a business relationship or sponsored trip factors into a story, we say so.
Southern identity does not belong to one type of person, and we try to write like we know that.
